About Product
Ophthalmoscope is an instrument used for examination of the internal structure of the eye; the back part of the eye (retina), optic nerve disc and the blood vessels. By shining a powerful beam of light into the eye and enlarging the picture, it helps them look for early signs of eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
Ophthalmoscopes are used extensively by ophthalmologists, optometrists and general physicians for routine eye examinations or when patients complain about vision problems. It is small, very portable and uses lenses that can be manipulated to examine internal anatomic structures in the eye.

Twist the focus wheel until sharpness of the retina, optic nerve and blood vessels is seen.
-
Monitor for signs of bleeding, inflammation or viral changes (swollen blood vessels).
-
Be sure to repeat for both eyes, for a full assessment.
More Information
Some ophthalmoscopes have digital imaging capabilities and video recording.
-
Optical Clarity: They need proper care and regular cleaning to uphold their optical clarity and functionality.
-
Some models integrate ophthalmoscopes with other devices such as retinoscopes for general diagnosis applications.
-
Ophthalmoscopy can be used to diagnose systemic disease such as hypertension and diabetes.
-
Available in direct and indirect form, the two types of scopes have different setups that offer different benefits based on the diagnostic task.
